Marketing Local on the World Wide Web with Content Marketing
Moz Blog had a good post titled “How to Create Authentic Hyperlocal Content at Scale” that got me thinking about marketing local for both our restaurant and pub (The Evergreen in downtown Syracuse) and our website design and digital marketing business. The blog post discusses the importance of generating quality, hyper-local content that us local, small businesses can do much better than the big national corporations. There are some good tips on finding local journalists and publications, as well as finding local “influencers” that might be able to write about and include links to your site on their site.
As they say in SEO nowadays, “content is king,” and that is because it takes good content to attract eyeballs, visitors, generate links and shares on social media. Unfortunately for us marketers it takes a lot of time and commitment. Small business owners have a lot on their plate and many hats to wear daily. Sitting down to blog is usually at the bottom of our list. Fortunately in any city there are small, local digital marketing agencies with writers that can help you out. And with some good old fashioned networking and hustle, you may even be able to get free publicity and articles about your business in the local news. If you’d like to discuss how we could help you in generating new content and marketing online, please give us a call or email us. I’d recommend first reading the Moz blog on this topic here… And if you’re a local journalist, blogger, or influencer in the Syracuse, NY area, we’d love to talk to you about partnering!
